Just the things that grow where people live. This bar carries that same honest nourishment: gentle on the skin and true to the craft.

The scent

Warm, soft, and comforting rather than perfumed. Oatmeal milk and honey is one of the most-loved scents in soapmaking because it doesn't really smell like a fragrance at all — it smells like something baking, or clean linen, or the inside of a good kitchen.

Who it's for

This is our gentlest everyday bar, and the one we recommend first for anyone whose skin gets dry, tight, or irritated by regular soap. Colloidal oatmeal has been used for centuries to soothe itchy and irritated skin, and aloe adds to that. If most fragranced soaps bother you, start here.

It's also a sensible choice for kids, and for anyone washing their hands twenty times a day.

A note on the oatmeal

Colloidal oatmeal is oats ground fine enough to suspend in water rather than sink. In a bar it does two jobs: it gives a very mild physical exfoliation — far gentler than salt or coffee — and it leaves a soft, almost powdery feel on the skin after rinsing. It's the reason this bar feels different from the rest of the range.

What's in it, and why

• Colloidal oatmeal — gentle exfoliation and a soft after-feel. The reason this bar is our pick for sensitive skin.
• Aloe barbadensis leaf juice — long used for soothing and cooling skin.
• Coconut oil — the lather. It's what gives the bar its thick, fast bubbles.
• Olive oil — the gentleness. A classic conditioning oil that keeps the bar mild.
• Mango seed butter — the creaminess. Adds body to the lather and a softer feel on the skin.
• Avocado oil — rich and conditioning, long used in bars meant for dry or tired skin.
• Castor oil — the bubble stabilizer. A small amount makes the lather last instead of collapsing.
• Jojoba oil — closest in structure to skin's own oils.
• Yogurt — our signature addition, for a creamier, silkier lather.
• Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — a natural antioxidant that helps keep the oils fresh.

Making it last

Keep it on a draining dish or in a sisal pouch between showers and let it dry out fully. Handmade soap left sitting in water disappears fast — kept dry, it lasts a good long while.
